Back in 2019 – inspired by a Facebook post from Lisa Martin – I decided to use the 1SE (1 Second Everyday) app to create a 6 minute + video that catalogued my year in 365 consecutive seconds. It was a fun little experiment, if a little arduous at times; some of the days just aren’t easy to fill, and I’m sure I’ve irritated more than a few friends and family with enthusiastic inquiries of, “Do you mind if I record a quick video? It’s for my second of the day!”
Having taken a year off in 2020 (and thank God I did; barring my wedding day in July, that would’ve turned out to be a very boring video), I decided to give it another go in 2021. The resulting video has captured what turned out to be a unique and defining year in my life: COVID lockdown boredom (mostly featuring lots of cat hijinks); a gradual return to semi-normality; my long-delayed wedding reception to Katie; and the birth of our son Samuel. It’s fair to say that, for as long as I live, there won’t be another year quite like it!
I hope you enjoy; and, just because I’m a bit of a nerd, I even threaded a New Year’s message through my 2021 video, recorded on the last day of each month.
